Flatulence remedy, Devrom used to neutralize embarassing odor from stool and flatulence, is mentioned on the American Cancer Society's page. FDA approved to effectively treat malodor from flatulence, Devrom's active ingredient is (200 mg) bismuth subgallate.
It's a common complaint among those with an ostomy. How do I deal with the odor? For some it's more of an issue than others. Regardless, for over 45 years people have complained to us about an effective odor remedy for their ostomy. There are several options and every 5 to 10 years a new product springs up, but nothing like Devrom internal deodorant tablets. Folks have the option to use an "external deodorant" which goes into the ostomy pouch for an ileostomy or colostomy. There are liquids such as Hollister's M9, Coloplast's OAD, Montreal's Stop-Plus (all liquids) as well as Parthenon's DevKo (tablets for the ostomy pouch).
Whatever product you use or if you don't need to use one, this is an imporant aspect of having an ostomy.
